Escola Residencial Hariharananda Balashram<\/h2>\n

Contexto: Em 1999, Odisha, um estado da costa leste da \u00cdndia, sofreu o pior ciclone de sua hist\u00f3ria. Muitas \u00e1reas foram devastadas e milhares de v\u00edtimas perderam a vida; in\u00fameros povoados foram literalmente varridos do mapa, e milhares de pessoas perderam suas casas e seus meios de subsist\u00eancia agr\u00edcolas, muitas vezes j\u00e1 prec\u00e1rios. Anos depois, as consequ\u00eancias dessa devasta\u00e7\u00e3o ainda eram sentidas, especialmente pelas muitas crian\u00e7as que ficaram \u00f3rf\u00e3s e\/ou viviam em extrema pobreza em decorr\u00eancia do desastre. Elas tamb\u00e9m estavam privadas de qualquer forma de assist\u00eancia e educa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

A fim de ajudar efetivamente essas e outras crian\u00e7as carentes, a PRAJNANA MISSION, com o apoio da HAND IN HAND, fundou a Escola Residencial Hariharananda Balashram. O Balashram oferece um lar seguro, bons cuidados de sa\u00fade e uma educa\u00e7\u00e3o de excel\u00eancia \u00e0s crian\u00e7as negligenciadas de Odisha que viviam em extrema pobreza. Elas est\u00e3o recebendo amor, seguran\u00e7a e uma base s\u00f3lida para o seu futuro, que as libertar\u00e1 do ciclo devastador da pobreza e da depend\u00eancia.<\/p>\n

Em uma \u00e1rea de cerca de doze hectares na vila de Pattamundai encontram-se os edif\u00edcios residenciais e escolares, um pequeno hospital, instala\u00e7\u00f5es esportivas e parques infantis, \u00e1reas agr\u00edcolas e muito mais, destinados ao cuidado integral das crian\u00e7as e dos jovens. A equipe do Balashram est\u00e1 literalmente presente 24 horas por dia para atender \u00e0s necessidades emocionais e sociais das crian\u00e7as.     Chrysalis<\/h2>\n

    A palavra \u201cchrysalis\u201d deriva do grego \u201cchrysos\u201d (\u201couro\u201d) e refere-se \u00e0 pupa dourada que se transforma em borboleta. Em sentido figurado, uma nova vida com autonomia tamb\u00e9m se inicia para os formandos da Escola Residencial Balashram. O projeto de acompanhamento \u201cChrysalis\u201d do Balashram os acompanha neste novo cap\u00edtulo de suas vidas. Durante sua perman\u00eancia no Balashram, eles j\u00e1 receberam apoio de acordo com suas habilidades individuais e agora, ap\u00f3s conclu\u00edrem o 10\u00ba ano escolar, continuam recebendo apoio para sua forma\u00e7\u00e3o profissional ou estudos posteriores.<\/p>\n

    Por exemplo, desde 2017, a Escola Balashram tem sido capaz de oferecer educa\u00e7\u00e3o at\u00e9 o Ensino Secund\u00e1rio (11\u00ba e 12\u00ba ano) nas \u00e1reas de Ci\u00eancias e Humanidades, o que representa um marco importante no desenvolvimento do campus. Al\u00e9m disso, a escola se empenha constantemente para estabelecer parcerias com empresas, atualmente tanto na \u00cdndia quanto nos Estados Unidos. Isso permite que os jovens recebam ofertas de est\u00e1gios promissores e garantam vagas de aprendizagem profissional.<\/p>\n

    Centro de Apoio
    Escolar em Arua<\/h2>\n

    O Centro de Apoio Escolar em Arua foi inaugurado em fevereiro de 2022 como um \u201cProjeto de Habilidades para a Vida e Desenvolvimento Comunit\u00e1rio\u201d. Ele oferece aulas de refor\u00e7o escolar \u00e0s crian\u00e7as das aldeias de Arua, Kadliban, Hatapatana, Keshpur e Nuapatana para compensar a qualidade muito baixa das escolas locais e, assim, elevar o n\u00edvel de desempenho dos estudantes. Cerca de 240 crian\u00e7as e jovens j\u00e1 frequentam este pequeno centro desde a sua inaugura\u00e7\u00e3o h\u00e1 pouco tempo, o qual oferece aulas de refor\u00e7o para crian\u00e7as mais novas no per\u00edodo da manh\u00e3 e para estudantes de n\u00edveis escolares mais avan\u00e7ados no per\u00edodo da noite.<\/p>\n

    Os pais, que frequentemente n\u00e3o t\u00eam nenhuma ou muito pouca escolaridade, participam ativamente. S\u00e3o realizadas reuni\u00f5es com eles em intervalos regulares, com o objetivo de envolv\u00ea-los de perto na trajet\u00f3ria educacional de seus filhos. Al\u00e9m disso, uma aula de \u201c\u00e9tica\u201d \u00e9 oferecida todos os domingos, da qual participam cerca de 60 a 70 pessoas. Ex-alunos do Hariharananda Balashram lecionam no Centro de Apoio Escolar em seu tempo livre, e professores aposentados da regi\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m costumam visitar o centro e ajudar nas aulas. A resposta dos moradores das aldeias \u00e9 muito positiva. Sempre que poss\u00edvel, os pais dos alunos contribuem com uma pequena quantia para cobrir os custos de eletricidade e as taxas de exames.<\/p>\n

    No Balashram, a natureza e sua preserva\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o de imensa import\u00e2ncia. Isso fica evidente no fato de que at\u00e9 mesmo os alunos das s\u00e9ries iniciais desenvolvem uma profunda consci\u00eancia a respeito disso. Quest\u00f5es ambientais, e sua import\u00e2ncia para a regi\u00e3o e para todo o planeta, s\u00e3o discutidas entre todas as faixas et\u00e1rias. Em aulas pr\u00e1ticas, voltadas para a experi\u00eancia direta, eles aprendem a cultivar plantas e ervas.     A constru\u00e7\u00e3o de uma fazenda do Balashram<\/h4>\n

    Com o objetivo de fornecer aos residentes do Balashram produtos l\u00e1cteos para suas necessidades di\u00e1rias e de preservar a ra\u00e7a indiana de zebu, foi constru\u00edda uma grande fazenda nas instala\u00e7\u00f5es do Balashram. 200 vacas e bezerros vivem nas instala\u00e7\u00f5es da pr\u00f3pria escola e produzem leite suficiente para abastecer as crian\u00e7as do Hariharananda Balashram com produtos l\u00e1cteos saud\u00e1veis.<\/p>\n

    A constru\u00e7\u00e3o de uma usina de biog\u00e1s<\/h4>\n

    A usina de biog\u00e1s, que entrou em opera\u00e7\u00e3o em 2018, supre 80% das necessidades energ\u00e9ticas do Balashram e \u00e9 alimentada pelo esterco dos 200 bovinos. Antes da instala\u00e7\u00e3o da usina, o preparo das refei\u00e7\u00f5es para 600 pessoas ainda era feito em fog\u00f5es a lenha. Desde a entrada em opera\u00e7\u00e3o da usina de biog\u00e1s, a queima de lenha p\u00f4de ser completamente eliminada.<\/p>\n

    O Projeto Solar teve in\u00edcio em dezembro de 2019 e est\u00e1 em cont\u00ednua expans\u00e3o, ajudando a economizar uma parcela cada vez maior dos custos de eletricidade.<\/p>\n

    A constru\u00e7\u00e3o de uma esta\u00e7\u00e3o de tratamento de esgoto<\/h4>\n

    Uma esta\u00e7\u00e3o de tratamento de esgoto foi constru\u00edda nas depend\u00eancias da escola em 2017 para purificar as \u00e1guas residuais, que s\u00e3o posteriormente utilizadas para irrigar os campos. A \u00e1gua residual proveniente das vacas, por sua vez, \u00e9 adicionada ao chorume, que \u00e9 utilizado na usina de biog\u00e1s.<\/p>\n

    Durante esses acampamentos, os alunos do Balashram aprendem a desenvolver a conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental e conhecem as iniciativas ecol\u00f3gicas que as organiza\u00e7\u00f5es HAND IN HAND e PRAJNANA MISSION concebem e apoiam. Dessa forma, eles, naturalmente, come\u00e7am a cuidar da natureza e a amar e proteger os seus recursos. A dire\u00e7\u00e3o da escola organiza regularmente excurs\u00f5es para reservas naturais pr\u00f3ximas, como o Santu\u00e1rio de Vida Selvagem de Bhitarakanika, onde as meninas e os meninos adquirem muito conhecimento e informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre diferentes esp\u00e9cies de plantas e animais.<\/p>\n

    Com entusiasmo e comprometimento, as crian\u00e7as e os jovens estudantes tamb\u00e9m organizam pequenos eventos por conta pr\u00f3pria, durante os quais trocam informa\u00e7\u00f5es com os moradores das aldeias vizinhas.     No primeiro Centro de Apoio Escolar (outros vir\u00e3o), acima de tudo, a maior parte do conte\u00fado escolar \u00e9 revisada. Crian\u00e7as e jovens estudantes sem escolariza\u00e7\u00e3o suficiente recebem apoio intensivo no Centro, al\u00e9m de tamb\u00e9m aprenderem \u201chabilidades para a vida\u201d, que promovem suas compet\u00eancias sociais.<\/p>\n

    S\u00e3o desenvolvidos projetos para a comunidade, e as crian\u00e7as aprendem e praticam como ajudar e estar a servi\u00e7o dos outros.     Education is an essential element <\/span>in the life of every human being. Through education, we not only acquire skills to earn a living, but also expand our knowledge about our lives and the world around us. Education is a right of all children in India and schools have been established in almost all major villages. Books, clothes and even a midday meal are provided to primary students. Despite enormous <\/span>funds<\/span> spent on improving school infrastructure, the quality of education in schools in smaller villages and low-income areas is extremely poor, so that secondary school students are barely able to understand primary school subjects.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The poor educational level of parents, family conditions and social environment, in addition to the lack of resources, are factors that hinder children\u2018s education. However, the most important factor is the lack of personal attention for the children. The teachers in the schools do not pay attention <\/span>to<\/span> individual instruction. Tutoring is not available in the villages because the villagers cannot afford to pay for it. The gap between rich and poor is thus widening, depriving countless people of any chance to improve their situation or that of their children.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Against this backdrop, we conceptualized the Hariharananda <\/span>Shikshashrams<\/span> project in 2018 \u2013 small village schools in rural and tribal regions of Odisha. In these schools, children receive quality education in Odia language, with a special focus on English. Students are charged a nominal tuition fee which their parents can afford to pay. Each school would have a respective trust (with competent people) to manage the school. Prajnana Mission, in cooperation with HAND IN HAND accompanies the development of the schools as well as the design of the lessons in an advisory capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Currently, the Shikshashram Betakholi school is run in a rented house with three rooms and a dormitory with 62 students from classes Kindergarten to Grade 3. The school has five full-time teachers, one part-time teacher (Art), as well as a caretaker and a field worker.
